Port Charlotte

Port Charlotte, along Florida's welcoming Gulf Coast, is about halfway between Sarasota and Fort Myers, perfectly positioned to offer every manner of water-borne activities.

Port Charlotte features more than 165 miles of waterways, providing access to Charlotte Harbor, the Gulf of Mexico, and miles of natural shoreline bordering Charlotte Harbor and the Peace and Myakka rivers.

But that's not all. Seven of the 21 golf courses located in Charlotte County are found in Port Charlotte.

Boca Grande

Boca Grande, located on Gasparilla Island off the Gulf Coast northwest of Fort Myers, is an affluent residential community recognized for excellent fishing.

Among Boca Grande's many charms is the Gasparilla Inn & Club, a hidden gem. Built in 1911 but maintained through renovations and updates, this luxurious resort preserves its old Florida charm.

Also, from Boca Grande, if you have your own boat or can befriend someone who does, you're within a short hop of Cayo Costa, a relaxed barrier island destination that moves at its own pace.

With great fishing, oak-palm hammocks, mangrove swamps and miles of beautiful beaches, Cayo Costa retains its natural wilderness and sense of remoteness because – yes – you can get there only by boat.

Blind Pass Park in Englewood

You should know about the superb shelling and beautiful beach on Manasota Key – in the Charlotte Harbor area, close to Englewood Beach -- known as Blind Pass Park.

Pay extra attention as you slow for the sharp corner in the road, or you’ll miss it entirely.

The natural beach provides a haven for nesting sea turtles, and it’s quiet except for the music of the surf and the wind and sometimes a few people laughing or talking.  The waves wash up shells and sand dollars and shark’s teeth in mounds along its soft sands, and its waters are clear and emerald-tinted like most of the beaches along the Gulf.
